Energy Testing

Energy Efficiency Labelling is increasingly becoming mandatory in various Middle Eastern countries.

Saudi Arabia has started its energy efficiency labelling program in April 2010 for Washing Machines, Refrigerators - Freezers and Air Conditioners. There will be more products to add soon.

UAE has started implementing its own program from January 2012. Kuwait has already enforced a maximum limit for energy consumption for air conditioners. Jordan has its own Energy Efficiency Program, so do Egypt.

In Saudi Arabia, the star rating is used on energy labels to indicate the Energy consumption of the product. The product with the more number of stars is the most efficient product. The label is the tool that enables the consumer to easily compare the performance of products available in the market. 

The Saudi Energy Efficiency Program requires each regulated product under the program to be registered and licensed before entering the Kingdom. The license certificate is issued by SASO for each model with a unique license number.

The procedure for obtaining the license from SASO is to submit an application for each model.
